Although the governement announced that the bid for an Enteprise Zone in Bognor Regis was unsuccessful, Arun District Council with the Bognor Regis Regeneration Board and other partners, including the Coastal West Sussex Partnership are determined to continue to work together to deliver the aspirations of the proposal.

The Enterprise Zone area is located strategically north of Bognor Regis urban area, at the heart of the coastal conurbation running from Chichester to Brighton, with good road, rail, air and seaport links, it comprises of 82.5 hectares of clean development land. The aim is to provide major knowledge-economy employment in a region where clean sites of this size are few, business growth is constrained and development in adjacent rural areas is restricted.

The objectives of Enterprise@BognorRegis would;

  • Create a leading-edge development comprising an Advanced Manufacturing Park, a Knowledge Park by 2017 and a campus of small business/studio units in a parkland setting, built to high standards of architectural design and landscaping;
  • Attract and create 165 businesses by 2015, providing 2,200 jobs at a cost per job of £6,316. Beyond 2015, create space for a further 5,300 jobs – 7,500 jobs in total;
  • Support new and high-growth, knowledge economy businesses in specialised sectors, where there is a competitive edge and growth potential: advanced manufacturing (automotive and marine); business services and digital/creative industries
  • Attract higher-value employment to the town and surrounding travel to work areas, change perceptions and raise the aspirations and skills of the local workforce
