Lancing neighbour from hell could face eviction
Ref : 10/027 : Date : 11-03-2010
A man who caused his neighbours nothing but misery could face eviction from his home within the next year if he doesn’t start behaving.
Adur District Council successfully prosecuted Trevor Heath, 39, at Worthing Magistrates Court this week (08/03/10) following complaints from neighbours about the noise and abuse. Heath who failed to turn up at the hearing was given a suspended possession order for 12 months.
Heath and his visitors have a history of shouting, swearing, playing loud music and abusive drunken behaviour, which includes vomiting in communal hallways.
If council tenant Heath of Warren Court, Sompting Road, Lancing breaches any of the conditions of this order he could face eviction from his home.
The suspended possession order states that Mr Heath or anyone staying with him or visiting must not cause nuisance to neighbours, this includes playing loud music, shouting, intimidating behaviour, harassment or creating any other disturbing noise.
Cabinet member for Improved Customer Services, Julie Searle said: “I sympathise greatly with this man’s neighbours. Having good neighbours is a blessing, but bad ones can be a curse. This council takes these matters seriously and will do all it can to take action to stop this sort of behaviour from any tenant.”
