Last week, a new Chairman was elected for the Coastal West Sussex Partnership.  Kirk Brown, Vice President & Site Director for GlaxoSmithKline took over the Chairmanship of the CWS Board from Iain Shepherd who has led the Board for the last 4 years.

Kirk joined GSK in the USA in January 2007 moving to the GSK site in Worthing as Vice President & Site Director in September 2012 with responsibility for around 850 staff.  Kirk is “looking forward to opening up engagement between the public sector and the business community to drive forward sustainable growth and strengthen the coastal economy”

It is an exciting time for the CWS Partnership as it looks to galvanise the support from local business leaders, universities and college and the public sector to help shape and drive forward activities that support business development and sustainable economic growth along the Coastal West Sussex area, bringing greater opportunities for its businesses and residents.

Iain, although stepping down as the Chairman to devote more attention to his European work and his own business, will remain with the CWS Partnership as an active Board Member.

Caroline Wood, Director of the CWS Partnership commented that “this is a really exciting opportunity for the Partnership to strengthen links with the business community and help shape and drive forward a range of initiatives that can be delivered across the whole Coastal West Sussex area”
