The first major event of Coastal STEMfest 2016 ‘Your Future’ was successfully held at Worthing’s Pavilion Theatre on 11th February. The careers day for students aged 14+ was organised in conjunction with Sussex Chamber of Commerce. At the event, local businesses and further and higher education institutions encouraged students to think about careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).
The Your Future careers day was one of the first events in a two month-long celebration which will inspire future generations to pursue studies in STEM subjects. The festival is being organised by a project team comprising the Coastal West Sussex (CWS) Partnership, West Sussex County Council, Sussex Learning Network, Tomorrow’s Engineers and STEM Sussex, the not-for-profit outreach department of the University of Brighton.
The STEM festival will culminate with the Big Bang @ Butlin’s, Bognor Regis, on 3rd March, part of the nationwide Big Bang programme.
