The Coastal West Sussex and Greater Brighton Strategic Planning Board was awarded the RTPI Award for Innovative Planning Practice in Plan Making on Monday evening.
The Strategic Planning Board is formed by the local planning authorities across the West Sussex coast, Arun, Adur, Worthing and Chichester along with West Sussex County Council, Brighton and Hove, Lewes District Council and the South Downs National Park to guide strategic planning priorities and maximise opportunities for investment in the area.
The Board has worked together to create a Local Strategic Statement to capture spatial, economic and infrastructure priorities across the coastal area. This statement takes forward a Memorandum of Understanding between the Local Planning Authorities and builds an active and on-going framework led by elected members for agreement on spatial priorities and key interventions.
