Creative and digital businesses are thriving in the Coastal West Sussex region, with over 1,800 enterprises (this is up 10.2% since 2010), employing over 5,600 people.

Coastal West Sussex attracts artists, performers and all kinds of creative digital talent. It is positioned between two of the south east of England’s great cultural centres – Chichester and Brighton.

The ‘creative industries’ in West Sussex has an annual turnover of more than £200m and supports around 2,000 businesses and 26,000 jobs.

It is fast becoming a desirable location for connected and creative digital businesses, who are able to recruit good quality local talent and benefit from close links to businesses in Brighton & Hove.

Just some of the creative, digital and IT businesses thriving locally include:

Wired Sussex is a membership organisation, which supports digital, media and technology companies and freelancers to create, innovate and grow.

Fresh Egg is a leading global search engine marketing agency, providing multilingual website design and search engine optimisation services.

Cobb Digital is an award-winning digital marketing agency and a certified Google Partner.

There are also plans for a new creative digital hub in a vacant space at Bognor Regis Railway Station. The project has been developed with the support of Hemingway Design in consultation with local creative and digital businesses and is closely linked to the development of the University of Chichester’s expansion at its Bognor Regis campus. The space is being converted into a shared and collaborative workspace where businesses and freelancers can work, share ideas and access business support and training.

“Coastal West Sussex is a great location for the ‘creative industries’ to thrive,” Coastal West Sussex Partnership Director, Caroline Wood, says.

“Not only are we easily located within near reach of Brighton & Hove – one of the country’s capitals for creative and digital entrepreneurialism, but our location provides lower home and commercial premises costs and a great lifestyle, with so much to do on our doorsteps!”
