The West Sussex Weekends visitor campaign, part of the County Council’s ‘Beautiful Outdoors Bold Idea’, has been launched to help address economic challenges and support businesses and economic growth. The visitor campaign promotes Coastal West Sussex and surrounding areas as short break destinations for those living in London and the South East. The initiative also encourages local residents to enjoy the beautiful outdoors.

The website  has been designed to appeal to those who are interested in fitness and health, with a focus on walking, cycling and outdoor pursuits. 

More than 100 businesses and partners supported the marketing campaign in 2015, which saw the launch of the existing website, social platforms, and an extensive digital marketing campaign.  This year the website has already received over 100,000 hits to the website and attracted 5,000 followers on social media pages.

Through a partnership with the Coastal West Sussex Visitor Economy Group, new content focusing on the coastal offering and water activities has been added to complement the existing walking and cycling copy. The site also includes inspirational stories from walkers, cyclists and water sports enthusiasts; features on active outdoor events;  example itineraries; great places to sample local food and drink; and some of the great accommodation on offer.
